January Moodboard Altered woodslice "Breathe in the Air" by Aleksandra

Hello dear Mixed media & Art friends. It's Aleksandra here with you today again to inspire you with my project for gorgeous January Moodboard. I was inspired by all the amazing nature elements on this month's Moodboard photo, by the subtle colors with a splash of dark velvet and by the word "Coolness", so I did try to bring out a bit of "frosty" touch. I made an altered woodslice. I hope you'll like it and you get inspired by it! :)

Winter Cottage - December Moodboard with Aleksandra

Hi dear Mixed Media & Art friends,

The year came to an end and we already walked into na new year. Here in Slovenia we are still waiting for the real winter. I remember when beeing a kid Winters were always snowy and I kind of miss this Magical time the last few years. But inspired by the gorgeous December Moodboard I made my own Winter wonderland with a Winter Cottage.

I used Scrapiniec chipboards to build a house and colored it with beautiful Finnabair Texture Fantasy Rust Pastes. I added snow using some cotton wool and some paper texture paste, sprinkled with artificial snow and glitter.

October Moodboard "Reach the Stars" by Aleksandra Mihelič

Hello dear Mixed Media & Art fans and friends.
It's my time today with you here on the blog to try and inspire you, maybe bring you some fresh ideas or encourage some creative momentum in you. I love this month's Moodboard. I love to create starry projects and the first photo that instantly inspired me was the second one in the first column! I feel in love with it right from the beginning. Joining some other elements from the Moodboard, this is what I came up with.

I decided to work on gorgeous Woodouts shapes. I just love to play with them, they are so versatile and so easy to work with. I colored them with black gesso. I added some white gesso on top of the circle one and colored it with Lindy's gang sprays, adding some Finnabair waxes on top and some white splashes. The hearts are covered with Northern Lights papers from 7 Dots Studio. I added a nest in the middle and a gorgeous Prima butterfly inside, following the Moodboard inspiration.

September Moodboard "Life Journey" by Aleksandra Mihelič

Hi dear friends of  Mixed Media & Art blog!
I'm so so happy and excited to be here with you, for the first time as DT member. I'm very honoured to have been given this chance. I love this blog and I'm always inspired and pushed over my creative and imagination boundaries with their fabulous Moodboards. This month's Moodboard was no exception. From the first minute I saw it, I knew what I'll be making. I've had this idea about a Sundial - a sun clock in my mind for some time now, but without the final vision how to make it happen. With this moodboard it all became clear.

I've altered a Graphic 45 mixed media box and attached it to a big piece of puzzle, that my kids weren't playing with anymore. I also added few more smaller puzzles on my box, to give it more interest and texture. I created a Sundial on top with chipboards.

After I glued down the puzzle pieces on my box, I covered it with two coats of white gesso. After that I added some sand texture paste on some parts of the box. When dry, I dry-brushed it just lightly with a bit of a black gesso. Then I colored it with brown and gold sprays. On top I added a bit of a Finnabair Opal Magic color for more gold effect.

The base big puzzle piece was colored only in gold with Finnabair gold sparke paint on top.

After that I built the upper part with a sundial from chipboard pieces. I dry brushed it with white gesso on some parts, added some gold glass glitter and some white glitter and few splashes of white paint.
